Program / Training and Employment

The Nanobiotechnology Center (NBTC) was established in January 2000 to pursue the enormous potential for advancing understanding in the life sciences by using the tools and techniques of nanotechnology to study biological systems. There are over 40 faculty members at these different institutions and students and postdocs working with these faculty are supported by the NBTC. The Center draws upon a number of facilities and other resources at our various partner institutions and at Cornell, including the Cornell Nanoscale Science & Technology Facility, the Cornell Center for Materials Research and the Biotechnology Institute

Our research is organized into research programs. Each interdisciplinary research project involving two or more faculty from the NBTC is assigned to a relevant program. Regular program meetings (including participation by videoconference) enable researchers to share knowledge with colleagues and generate new ideas for future research. Opportunities exist for Postdoctoral Associates and Graduate Research Assistants, with appointments made through the respective Center institutions.

Four research programs:

Graduate Research Assistants

Opportunities are available for graduate students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. Appointments will be made through the respective graduate fields at the different NBTC institutions. Click here for a listing of graduate fields.

Postdoctoral Associates

Opportunities are often available for postdoctoral positions within NBTC faculty research groups. Go to individual faculty lab pages for more details. Click here for a listing of NBTC faculty members.

Professional Development

The Center provides members with many opportunities for professional and career development. Collaborating with other organizations at Cornell the NBTC encourages participation in entrepreneur workshops, business idea development and networking through the Cornell Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise program.
